They can choose to play as a manager, or they can control players on the field. They can take part in online competitions, join communities of like minded people and discuss the games. They can even send the company, which designed the game, suggestions on how to improve it. But these games are designed with a certain group of people in mind, those people who are too lazy to go out and play those sports in real life. No matter how real a game becomes, it will never ever be able to replicate the real thing.
