Man versus Machine

The age old fight between man and machine has found its way to the world of cricket as well. With the much debated ‘Umpiring referral system’, the Gentleman’s game is not the way it always used to be. Some view it as a means to challenge an on-field umpire’s skill and authority, while some view it as an addition to the efficiency of umpire. Whether one hates or loves it, one certainly cannot ignore it as the International Cricket Council has implemented in more than one tournament. But, the cricket boards of all cricket-playing nations would ultimately have to decide whether to use this facility or not. The recent India-West Indies series has been marred with controversy regarding the efficiency of umpiring. Whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India adopts the referral system or not is something to be seen.

Wimbledon '11

Federer is conveniently out of the way. With Nadal bothered with his foot, the Britishers have a reason to hope that the cup will be won by Andy Murray. However, when asked, Nadal did not admit being worried about his foot and is adopting a rather aggressive stance for the finals.
Andy Murray has far too many expectations riding on him, considering no British man has won the Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936.

Although many are disappointed by Federer's exit from the Wimbledon of 2011, it's going to be quite an interesting final match. Nadal is promising as ever, and Murray seems to be catching up.

WWE

Everybody's heard of World Wrestling Entertainment - previously World Wrestling Federation. And everybody must have grown up with at least one favorite wrestler - be it Undertaker, Kane, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H or The Heartbreak Kid.

WWE is also indicative of the various tournaments and matches that these half-gods used to indulge in. As kids, we used to be fascinated by The Royal Rumble, or the Steel Cage Match. Wrestlers also used to sport belts and titles awarded to them, often made of silver and gold. And then there used to be legends and stories of how a couple of wrestlers were arch enemies since childhood. In this context, it is hard to forget the enmity between Undertaker and Kane.

Now that was a sport.
