According to the handwritten diary by Dr. Naismith, he became scared with his game for he fret that it might fail like those that he probably did before. It said that he associated the guidelines from the game Duck on a Rock that's usually a children's game. After which he named the game as Basket Ball. Basketball's Firsts It was during Jan 20, 1892 that the 1st game was officially played and was held at the gym of YMCA. The game made up nine players and had a 1-0 result. This winning shot was made at a twenty-five feet measurement and the court was only half the dimensions of today NBA court. Basketball was not only intended for men. Girls also indulged in the game. The 1st girls basketball game was held in Smith University in the year 1892. Senda Berenson, also a physical education teacher like Naismith changed some of the guidelines that were meant for ladies. She also arranged the 1st basketball women's collegiate game that was on March 1893. Her newbies girls played against the sophomore girls. She then became entranced by the values and abilities the game could convey.
YMCA was unconditionally answerable for the development and spread of the game. By 1895, it reached Canada and parts of the US that was then evolved at some school for girls. The nation's Basketball League, called the first pro basketball league, was established in 1898. The league's responsibility is to guard the players from being exploited and make it safer for the advantage of its members. this lasted for only five years. Since these evolutions, basketball had been commonly accepted and had become the hot trend in sports.
