Danny Murphy, Bobby Zamora and Damien Duff took advantage of the mistakes of the patched behind Manchester United and denied the defending champion a chance to tie on points with leaders Chelsea.

The fifth setback of the campaign may leave United by six points at the top if the Blues win on Sunday.

Murphy took the ball to Paul Scholes and gave Fulham the lead on 22 minutes. Zamora difference increased to 46, and Duff made it three in the 75th against United that did not have four plants due to injury.

Nadir Belhadj and Frederic Piquionne each scored to lead the 2-0 success over Portsmouth at Liverpool, which put more pressure on manager Rafa Benitez.

The Algerian Belhadj scored the first goal after 33 minutes, before the expulsion of Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, for a heavy tackle on Tal Ben Haim.

Piquionne added the second at 82 and increased the chances of avoiding relegation Portsmouth. It was the seventh loss in 18 games for Liverpool in the Premier League, and sank backwards away from Benitez's team leaders.
